Jun 8, 2026 at 8:38 AMFederal Express Corporation (FedEx) signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with China Southern Air Logistics Co., Ltd. on June 2, 2026, in Guangzhou, China. This agreement aims to establish a strategic partnership that enables both companies to combine their resources and capabilities to enhance operational efficiency and global service capabilities. The goal is to build a more efficient and resilient global air logistics network.
The MoU was signed by Poh-Yian Koh, President of FedEx China, and Li Xiao, Chairman of China Southern Air Logistics. Richard W. Smith, COO International and CEO Airline of FedEx, and Han Wensheng, President of China Southern Air Holding Co., Ltd., were present as witnesses. Under the agreement, FedEx and China Southern Air Logistics will explore collaboration opportunities in several key areas, including international flight and hub connections, network planning, fleet resources, ground operations, and digitization. The collaboration aims to create mutual benefits and set new standards in global air logistics.
Strategic goals of the collaboration
Poh-Yian Koh commented on the agreement, emphasizing the importance of collaboration: “We are pleased to sign this Memorandum of Understanding with China Southern Air Logistics. This collaboration represents a crucial opportunity to deepen our business alignment and strengthen the development of the air logistics network.” Koh added that by integrating FedEx’s global air network resources with the operational experience of China Southern Air Logistics in both domestic and international markets, route connections and operational efficiency could be further improved.
Li Xiao highlighted the existing partnership between the two companies: “As one of the key partners of China Southern Air Logistics, FedEx has a solid foundation for collaboration. The signing of this strategic MoU marks an important step towards expanding our cooperation dimensions and deepening mutually beneficial outcomes.” The two companies will focus on five core areas: cargo capacity, routes, fleet, operations, and digitization, to optimize their respective resources.
FedEx has been operating in the Chinese market since 1984. In recent months, FedEx has further optimized its logistics network to connect China with key markets in Asia and Europe. This is being achieved by leveraging enhanced capacities and the global network to provide customers in China with flexible and efficient logistics solutions and to build a smarter supply chain.
