May 19, 2026 at 12:33 PMThe Japanese Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (“K” Line) and the Akademi Laut Malaysia (ALAM) have signed an agreement to establish a scholarship program for students. This initiative represents the first step by “K” Line to promote maritime talents in Malaysia.
Promotion of maritime professionals
The scholarship program aims to develop outstanding professionals in the maritime sector who will play an important role in the industry in the future. Additionally, it is intended to assist ALAM students in shaping their academic and professional careers in the maritime field. As part of the program, participants will receive financial support as well as the opportunity to gain practical experience on board ships operated by the “K” Line Group. This is designed to provide students with hands-on training and prepare them for their future careers as maritime professionals.
So far, “K” Line has focused on the global development of maritime professionals. With this initiative, “K” Line and ALAM intend to contribute to the advancement of maritime education in Malaysia and support the sustainable development of professionals in this field.
ALAM is a leading institution for maritime education and training in Malaysia and has trained over 15,000 maritime professionals in the past 50 years. The academy offers a variety of structured training programs and features modern facilities, including simulators and specialized laboratories.
Through collaboration with “K” Line, the academy will be able to further expand its training offerings and provide students with additional opportunities for professional development.
