May 15, 2026 at 10:00 AMNicolai Friis has been appointed as the regional head for Asia-Pacific (excluding the Philippines) at the global terminal operator International Container Terminals Inc. (ICTSI), headquartered in the Philippines. Friis brings over two decades of experience in leading companies in port development, maritime services, and offshore logistics, which he has gained in Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.
Before joining the ICTSI group in April 2026, Friis served as Chief Executive Officer at Adani Harbour & Ports International in Dubai from 2022 to 2025. In this role, he led the international expansion of one of India’s largest port companies into emerging markets. Previously, he was CEO for Africa, the Middle East, and Asia at Svitzer in Dubai from 2018 to 2022, where he also served as Chief Operating and Commercial Officer from 2017 to 2018.
Prior to his management career, Friis was a co-founder and owner of FSG Foods Logistics, a Scandinavian market leader in refrigerated fast-moving consumer goods.
Responsibilities and goals in the new position
In his new role as regional head for Asia-Pacific, Friis will drive the ICTSI group’s priorities in the region outside the Philippines. This includes enhancing operational performance as well as expanding into key growth markets. Friis’s appointment comes at a time when the ICTSI group aims to expand its activities in strategically important regions.
