May 12, 2026 at 7:23 AMThe Damen Shipyards Group has delivered the first of two so-called Construction Service Operation Vessels (CSOV) 9020 to Ta San Shang Marine Co., Ltd. (TSSM) in Ha Long, Vietnam. TSSM is a joint venture between Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. from Japan and Ta Tong Marine Co., Ltd. from Taiwan. The newly delivered vessel will be used to support operations in Taiwanese offshore wind farms during the construction and operational phases, as the company reports.
The handover of the CSOV 9020 took place after sea trials in Ha Long Bay in the 17th calendar week. During a naming ceremony on April 29, the ship was christened „TSS Cruiser“ by Patricia Liao, President of the Welcome to Taipei International Club (WTIC). Representatives from the management of both joint venture partners as well as Damen attended the ceremony. After the christening, guests had the opportunity to tour the ship and take a trip through the bay.
Technical details and equipment
The Damen CSOV 9020 has a length of 90 m and can accommodate up to 120 offshore personnel. The crew can board and disembark via a gangway, which according to the manufacturer is designed to facilitate access to offshore facilities. The vessel is equipped with a hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system and has been designed to be retrofitted for methanol propulsion in the future.
