May 7, 2026 at 9:53 AMThe Port of Houston has introduced a new investment plan titled „Anchored in Action,“ aimed at improving the quality of life in the communities along the Houston Ship Channel. This plan was developed in collaboration with local residents and seeks to align the priorities of the population with the resources of the industry, according to the port.
Community co-creation
As part of an engagement process, over 500 potential programs and projects were identified in 14 communities along the Houston Ship Channel and Galveston Bay. These initiatives were directly shaped by residents who live and work near the waterway. The plan aims to address both the immediate needs of the neighborhood and long-term development opportunities. Industry partners operating along the channel have actively contributed to the creation of the plan, according to the port. „Anchored in Action provides our industry with a common starting point for investments in the communities immediately adjacent to the Houston Ship Channel,“ said Ric Campo, Chairman of the Port Commission.
