The Port of Barcelona has presented a roadmap for its future development with the fifth strategic plan for the years 2026 to 2030. This plan, which is considered by the port to be the largest investment cycle in its history, aims to optimize infrastructure, connectivity, and energy supply. This is intended to strengthen the resilience of the port in an increasingly unstable global situation, as stated by the port.
Measures for transformation
The strategic plan is divided into an action plan with 120 initiatives, which are categorized into 25 specific environmental, social, and economic goals. With this approach, the Port of Barcelona aims to secure the competitiveness of the trade sector while promoting sustainability. A central concern of the plan is the establishment of solid and modern infrastructures that enable improved connectivity. According to the company, this is particularly important to maintain the port’s role as an economic and social engine of the region.
