Apr 17, 2026 at 7:24 AMEli Glickman, the President and Chief Executive Officer of ZIM Integrated Shipping Services Ltd., has informed the company’s board that he will resign from his position. However, Glickman will continue to serve as CEO for a period of six months to ensure a smooth transition until a successor is found. The board plans to begin the search for a suitable successor in the coming weeks.
In a statement, Glickman expressed his belief that he joined ZIM nine years ago with a clear purpose. He emphasized that he believed in the company and its employees, and that with the right strategy and determination, ZIM has been transformed into a stronger and more resilient player in the global market. Glickman highlighted that the company’s successes are the result of the collective efforts of the entire ZIM team and cannot be attributed to a single individual.
In recent months, the board has promoted a merger process with Hapag-Lloyd. Glickman respects this decision but concluded that he can no longer serve as CEO of ZIM. He emphasized that he cares deeply about the leadership of the company and that this responsibility must align with the future direction of the company.
Glickman further stated that it was important for him to secure the future of ZIM’s dedicated employees, especially considering the challenges the company has faced in recent years. He sees the current time as appropriate to initiate the transition.
During his remaining time as CEO, Glickman will continue to advocate for continuity and stability and support the board and leadership team to prepare ZIM for the next phase. He expressed his gratitude to the employees and emphasized that he is proud to have been part of ZIM.
