Apr 9, 2026 at 7:11 AMThe Ocean Alliance has announced that it will launch a direct container service starting in May 2026, connecting the SSA Jacksonville Container Terminal of the Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT) with markets in Asia. The new service, known as the „Chesapeake Bay Express (CBX),“ will operate weekly and be offered by the shipping companies CMA CGM, COSCO Shipping, Evergreen Marine, and OOCL, according to the Jacksonville Port Authority.
The first voyage of the CBX service is expected to take place in May 2026 at JAXPORT. The port rotation of the new service includes several ports in Asia and North America. These include Vũng Tàu in Vietnam, Yantian and Shanghai in China, Busan in South Korea, and Kobe in Japan. After transiting the Panama Canal, the service will also call at Norfolk, Charleston, Savannah, and Jacksonville before returning to Vũng Tàu.
„This service expands routing flexibility between the Southeast United States and key Asian markets and underscores how our continued infrastructure investments are delivering efficient, reliable service for global carriers,“ said JAXPORT CEO Eric Green.
