Mar 9, 2026 at 4:37 PMSAAM Towage has expanded its fleet with a new tug named „SAAM Guanay.“ The vessel was built by Sanmar Shipyards in Turkey and is the 13th of its kind developed in collaboration with SAAM Towage, as the company recently announced. The tug is based on the „RAmparts 2400SX MKII design“ by Robert Allan and is designed for maneuvering in tight harbor areas.
Technological features
The „SAAM Guanay“ is equipped with an „IMO Tier III emissions reduction system.“ Pablo Cáceres, Director of Sustainability and Development at SAAM Towage, stated that the new vessel combines both design and performance to meet the current challenges in shipping. „It is an ideal solution to support our customers reliably, safely, and sustainably,“ Cáceres said.
Rüçhan Çıvgın, the Commercial Director of Sanmar Shipyards, emphasized the positive collaboration with SAAM Towage. He expressed that both companies share common values and a vision for a sustainable maritime future. „We are proud to support their expansion with state-of-the-art vessels,“ he added.
