Feb 17, 2026 at 12:55 PMBrazilian GOL Linhas Aéreas will launch a new nonstop route between Asuncion and Miami in early June 2026. The route is set to operate four times a week with seventh freedom rights, subject to final approval by Paraguay’s aviation authority Dinac.
At approximately 6,150 km, it will be the longest flight in the airline’s history. A Boeing 737 MAX will be used, with a flight time of about eight hours. This will be the only direct connection between Paraguay and the USA.
A prerequisite was the TSA certification of the capital airport Silvio Pettirossi for direct flights to North America. Meanwhile, Paraguay is aiming for FAA Category 1.
The connection is also significant for cargo. In 2025, a total of 36,766 tons of air freight were handled at the Silvio Pettirossi and Guaraní airports – an increase of 24% compared to 2024. In Asuncion alone, the volume was 25,042 tons (+37%).
The new long-haul route creates additional belly capacity between Paraguay and the USA, particularly for agricultural products, pharmaceuticals, and time-sensitive shipments.
