Aug 5, 2023 at 7:13 PMThe logistics service provider GROUP7 recently completed the ramp-up phase of its new building in Hamburg-Billbrook. The logistics customers served by GROUP7 in Hamburg are accommodated on a storage area of 26,000 square meters. The storage area has been optimized for water hazard classes 1-3. GROUP7 also offers tailored solutions in Hamburg that are individually customized to meet the specific requirements of various industries.
(Munich/Hamburg) “Since the commissioning at the beginning of the year, we have gradually increased the capacities in Hamburg: among other things, we have installed high-bay systems, set up small parts picking on the staging system, inaugurated process lanes for assembly work, and moved customers from rented premises here. It feels great to now be able to offer our customers perfect logistical options,” enthuses Hubert Borghoff, authorized signatory and logistics manager at GROUP7.
“The industries we are currently serving in our new building include: fashion, sports & lifestyle, merchandising, e-commerce, automotive, high-tech & electronics, industry & mechanical engineering, pharmaceuticals & healthcare, as well as retail. Our many years of experience and in-depth market knowledge enable us to offer such a wide range of solutions,” explains Borghoff.
Customers Appreciate Extensive Value Added Services
For flexible deliveries and loading processes, the logistics center has 8 ground-level and 28 loading ramps and is suitable for long trucks. GROUP7 offers global e-fulfillment in Hamburg with intelligent order management – for both the B2B segment and the B2C market. The logistics service provider’s end-to-end solutions include, among other things, cross-docking, procurement, distribution, warehousing, packaging, picking, shipping, and returns processing. “In addition to the logistical basics, our customers especially appreciate us for value-added services such as assembly work, goods preparation for the fashion industry like ironing or sewing, gift wrapping, or extensive quality controls,” says Borghoff.
Photovoltaic System in Operation Since February
Since February, photovoltaic panels on the roof of the facility have been collecting sunlight to provide energy for the logistics center. GROUP7 aims for energy self-sufficiency, as energy storage ensures power even during times of low sunlight. Together with a 3,400 square meter green roof, thermal cooling ceilings, heat pumps, and other sustainable measures, the new building saves around 850,000 kWh of energy annually compared to a reference building. We recently received the DGNB certificate in gold (German Sustainable Building Council) for the sustainable overall concept,” says Borghoff proudly.
Comprehensive Safety and Fire Protection Concept
High-value goods are well secured in the new GROUP7 center. The security concept includes a central intrusion alarm system at all accessible points, permanent camera surveillance of access gates and doors, as well as access controls at all entrances and exits. “Our fire protection concept also adheres to the highest standards. Among other things, we have a fire alarm system with direct connection to the local control center, a ceiling sprinkler system according to ESFR standards, and fire-resistant walls,” Borghoff concludes.
