Jun 1, 2023 at 3:40 PMAs part of the logistics trade fair “transport logistic” in Munich, Federal Minister of Transport Dr. Volker Wissing has taken over the patronage of the initiative Blood Transported. Saving lives together – an industry in motion. This is the motto of the logistics initiative, which was founded just over three years ago by founder and idea generator Nicolas Gallenkamp. At the fair, Dr. Volker Wissing met with the initiators to officially seal the patronage.
(Osnabrück) “The initiative ‘Blood Transported’ raises awareness of blood diseases with more than 50 partner companies and supporters from the transport and logistics industry through regular events. With blood donation and stem cell typing campaigns among employees, benefit events, or charity events, it makes a valuable contribution to combating blood cancer and other diseases of the blood-forming system. I wholeheartedly support this. That is why I was very happy to take over the patronage and wish the initiative much success,” the minister explained.
The initiative is also very pleased: “This special support from the minister certainly confirms us in our work. The logistics industry can be a real lifesaver if even more companies get involved in the fight against leukemia and similar diseases,” emphasizes co-founder Nicolas Gallenkamp. Given that three million people work in the industry alone in Germany, there is a great opportunity for even more engagement.
Blood and Logistics Create Stability
“As indispensable as blood is for our organism, logistics is significant for our society. Both systems create stability and ensure a constant supply,” explains Gallenkamp. The logistics industry always responds to bottlenecks and challenges with innovative solutions. Therefore, it is only logical to support medical research in developing new approaches to combat blood diseases and to raise awareness for the issue.
The fact that the commitment to the patronage took place during the most important industry meeting of the year underscores the important networking work that Blood Transported continues to carry out, according to Gallenkamp. “Numerous conversations with people from the industry during the transport logistic have personally shown me: For many colleagues, the fight against leukemia and other diseases is also a real matter of the heart.”
Public Awareness Actions on “World Blood Cancer Day”
The assumption of the patronage by the Federal Minister of Transport also comes at an important time for the initiative: Around World Blood Cancer Day on May 28, public awareness actions are to take place again throughout Germany, highlighting the central concern of the initiative.
