Gebrüder Weiss has been represented in Vietnam for ten years

The Austrian logistics service provider Gebrüder Weiss celebrates ten years of success in Vietnam. The local company in Vietnam serves as a stable bridge between Europe and Southeast Asia. The location in the capital Ho Chi Minh City is the logistics hub for imports and exports. In 2021, shipment numbers increased by around 30 percent.

(Ho Chi Minh City/Hanoi/Lauterach) The population is young, and the economy has been growing for years. In 2021, Vietnam exported goods worth 319 billion euros. Ten years earlier, it was only 84 billion euros. It has been that long since Gebrüder Weiss opened two of its own locations in the Southeast Asian country: one in the economic center Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) and the second 1,600 kilometers further north in the capital Hanoi. “Today we know that the decision was right,” says Cristian Predan, Area Manager Southeast Asia at Gebrüder Weiss. “The economic conditions in Vietnam have steadily improved since we entered the market. Road and port infrastructure have been expanded, and the demand from the above-average young population for consumer and industrial goods is increasing.”

Logistics warehouse for a furniture manufacturer

Products from the electronics, mechanical engineering, aerospace, chemical, and food industries are exported. For its customers, Gebrüder Weiss primarily transports these goods to Singapore, South Korea, Europe, and the USA. Last year, the company increased the volume of air and sea freight shipments by around 30 percent compared to the previous year. In Vietnam, Gebrüder Weiss manages, among other things, the spare parts logistics for European mechanical engineering companies and operates a logistics warehouse for an international furniture manufacturer – including picking, packing, labeling, and customs clearance.

Vietnam is the tenth country

For the logistics provider, Vietnam is already the tenth country with its own branches in East Asia and Oceania. The network now includes locations in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, and New Zealand. The establishment of further locations in Vietnam’s neighboring countries is being evaluated. Already today, Gebrüder Weiss organizes cross-border land transport to Cambodia as well as domestic sea transport from the south to the north of the country.
