TIMOCOM Introduces Five-Star Rating System
Feb 2, 2022 at 6:27 PMGood news for the Lübeck Port Company (LHG) and the location: Since February 1, the shipping company Finnlines has implemented a changed setup on the route between Lübeck and Malmö. This increases the number of daily departures from three to four, thus addressing the rising demand in the Southern Sweden traffic.
(Lübeck/Malmö) With the ships “Finnfellow” and “Finnclipper,” two familiar vessels are returning to the Scandinavia Terminal. They replace the “Europalink,” which has switched to service between Sweden and Finland. Together, the two ferries provide 6,200 loading meters, increasing the daily capacity by 2,000 loading meters per direction. The additional departure also benefits the passenger sector. Instead of 550, 880 passengers can now check in for the evening departures.
“Strengthening our line between Travemünde and Malmö is an important signal for our customers, the port, and the city that we strongly believe in the Travemünde location. The current demand for the transport of goods and passengers on this route is very high. We are pleased to offer our customers even more choice and flexibility with four daily departures and a total of 48 crossings per week in both directions,” comments Antonio Raimo, Line Manager Finnlines.
Capacity at Baltic Rail Gate to be Expanded
Tobard Jan Klemke, Head of Marketing and Sales at LHG, adds: “We are very pleased with the trust that Finnlines places in the location and our capabilities. We will do everything we can to continue growing with our customers. Especially in light of the increasing volumes in intermodal transport, we welcome the increased frequency. To keep pace with the growth, we will expand the capacities of Baltic Rail Gate in the near future.” The intermodal terminal at the Scandinavia Terminal handled more than 126,000 units last year.
