Jun 10, 2021 at 5:39 PMMarkus Bangen will be the new CEO of Duisburger Hafen AG. He will be responsible for leading the largest inland port in Europe starting December 1, 2021. Additionally, Dr. Carsten Hinne will be appointed to the board of Duisburger Hafen AG. He succeeds the long-serving (since 1998) CEO Erich Staake, who recently made headlines due to a vaccination scandal.
(Duisburg) The presidency recommended to the supervisory board the appointment of Markus Bangen as the new CEO and Dr. Carsten Hinne as a board member. The decision was unanimously made at today’s supervisory board meeting in Duisburg City Hall. Supervisory Board Chairman Dr. Hendrik Schulte: “This is a good day for Duisburger Hafen. With Markus Bangen, we have gained an excellent expert on Duisburger Hafen for the new leadership.”
Dr. Carsten Hinne is moving from Deutsche Bahn to the largest inland port in Europe. Dr. Schulte: “At DB Cargo, Dr. Carsten Hinne acquired extensive expertise in corridor development to China. I am sure that Duisburger Hafen will benefit from this in the future.” Dr. Schulte: “We were looking for experienced leaders who are eager for innovations. With Markus Bangen and Dr. Carsten Hinne, the port is well positioned to successfully continue the dynamic development of recent years.”
Vita Markus Bangen
Markus Bangen, born in 1972, joined Duisburger Hafen in 2000 and initially led the legal department, and from 2003 also personnel. In 2008, he moved up to the board and was responsible for legal, personnel, purchasing, industrial logistics, superstructure, and terminals. Bangen studied law in Bonn with a focus on European and transport law. He completed his legal clerkship, among other places, in San Francisco. Markus Bangen is married and has two children.
Vita Dr. Carsten Hinne
Dr. Carsten Hinne, born in 1975, was most recently Senior Vice President of DB Cargo AG, responsible for the realignment and organization of the newly created business area along the Eurasian corridor with the companies DB Cargo Eurasia, DB Cargo Russia, and DB Cargo Transasia. Hinne studied business administration at Justus Liebig University in Gießen and earned his doctorate in 2007 at the University of Erlangen with a Dr. rer. pol. Hinne is married and has two children.
Special audit procedure against Erich Staake continues
According to WDR, a special audit procedure against the still-serving CEO Erich Staake is ongoing. Whether he will complete his term as planned until the end of November 2021 remains uncertain. Allegedly, the public prosecutor’s office is still examining further offenses against Staake (the presumption of innocence applies).
