Apr 8, 2021 at 7:25 PMThe Berlin Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Enterprises is expanding the funding program for turning assistants in Berlin to include turning assistants without camera monitors. The implementing IBB Business Team GmbH is now accepting funding applications. This responds to the increased demand.
(Berlin) With a revised guideline, the Berlin funding program launched in December 2020 for greater road safety is now also open to systems without camera monitors. Approval from the Federal Motor Transport Authority is still required.
The adjustment underscores that other systems are at least on par with camera monitor systems in terms of safety.
Avoidance of Turning Accidents
The Berlin Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Enterprises is responding to increased inquiries from the industry. They assess other turning assistance systems, in addition to the previously eligible camera monitor systems combined with an acoustic warning signal, as more practical while maintaining at least the same reliability.
The aim of the funding measure is to avoid turning accidents and thus protect particularly cyclists and pedestrians.
The funding program “Turning Assistant Berlin” is aimed at companies operating in Berlin as well as freelancers or non-profit organizations that operate trucks in Berlin. They receive funding of up to 1,500 euros for the voluntary retrofitting of their existing vehicles with a turning assistance system. A maximum of 20 systems can be funded per applying company. A clear investment in Berlin’s road safety.
