(Osnabrück/Bielefeld) The Bielefeld branch of the globally operating full-service provider Hellmann Worldwide Logistics has been awarded the designation ‘Awarded Family-Friendly’ for its particularly family-conscious personnel development strategy. During a festive ceremony, the award was presented by Karin Schrader, the first mayor of the city of Bielefeld, and the Bielefeld Alliance for Families. In addition to structural personnel policy approaches, the use of creative instruments of modern, family-oriented personnel policy and the implementation of individual company-specific solutions were evaluated. Hellmann impressed with both flexible working time arrangements and numerous measures that enable parents and employees with caregiving relatives to balance family and work.
Hellmann Audited as Family-Friendly Since 2008
Hellmann was the first logistics service provider in Germany to be certified by the Audit Beruf und Familie in 2008 and has since continuously developed its family-friendly personnel policy nationwide. Implemented measures at the Bielefeld location include the establishment of a strategic health management system, life-phase-oriented personnel development, and the availability of a parent-child office. An external social counseling service, which employees and their relatives can contact anonymously and free of charge, as well as the use of care guides, address demographic change and promote family-friendly corporate policy. Furthermore, a recent company agreement has been adopted that provides special leave days for the care of relatives. At the Bielefeld location, 144 of the nearly 4,800 employees in Germany benefit from the comprehensive offerings. “As a family business, it is a matter close to our hearts to implement a family-oriented personnel policy. We have driven this topic forward with great commitment and energy in recent years and are very pleased to have now been awarded for it at the Bielefeld location. The compatibility of family and work is a very important criterion for employee satisfaction today and thus a central pillar of our nationwide personnel policy,” said Loubna Gilani, Area Manager, Hellmann Worldwide Logistics.
