Jun 30, 2026 at 12:49 PMThe Port Authority of Long Beach has officially recognized the initiatives of Bali Express Services to create an environmentally friendly truck corridor between Long Beach and Mexico. At an event attended by, among others, the Port’s CEO, Dr. Noel Hacegaba (2nd from left), and the Director of Bali Express Services, Juan Baez (center), the company’s commitment to using zero-emission trucks for transporting goods along a route of approximately 200 kilometers between the port and Mexico, the largest trading partner of the USA, was highlighted.
Dr. Hacegaba emphasized the importance of trade between the USA and Mexico, which reaches a record value of $872.83 billion annually. Nearly 90% of this trade occurs over land, with the majority transported by truck. „That is why initiatives like this are important and contribute to change,“ Hacegaba explained.
Last year, Bali Express already transported goods between the Port of Long Beach and its facility in San Diego County, as well as across the Mexican border. Both compressed natural gas (CNG) trucks and electric vehicles were used in this process. The company currently operates 32 CNG trucks and six electric vehicles and plans to acquire an additional 20 CNG and 20 electric vehicles, including Tesla Semi Trucks, this year.
„I commend Bali Express Services for their vision and leadership in integrating green technologies into their business model,“ said Hacegaba. „These valuable partnerships are crucial to our strategy. As we build the port of the future, such collaborations will help us tackle the challenges of tomorrow by deploying zero-emission trucks and improving cross-border connectivity.“
Frank Colonna, President of the Long Beach Harbor Commission, emphasized the importance of partners like Bali Express Services for the mission of zero-emission logistics. „Bali Express’s efforts will lead to cleaner air along a heavily trafficked international trade route,“ Colonna stated.
Juan Baez reaffirmed Bali Express’s commitment to environmentally friendly trucks and announced investments in electric vehicles. The company’s goal is to operate a fully zero-emission fleet of more than 350 trucks by 2040. „I am honored to be recognized by the Port of Long Beach,“ Baez said. „In just the last twelve months, Bali’s green activities have been equivalent to removing 1,930 vehicles from the road. We want to show the world that we can operate our trucking business in an environmentally friendly manner while being a successful company.“
The Port of Long Beach supports partners in the supply chain that have made significant progress in transitioning to environmentally friendly operations. Earlier this month, the port announced the „Zero-Emission Truck Early Leaders Award,“ which recognizes companies that have been the first to introduce zero-emission trucks for use at marine terminals. Bali Express Services is among the 43 companies being considered for this award.
Last month, the California port signed a memorandum of understanding with The Wonderful Company and Lincoln Transportation Services to create the world’s first port-operated environmentally friendly truck corridor connecting Long Beach with the Central Valley over a distance of approximately 240 kilometers.
