Jul 1, 2026 at 3:44 PMLATAM Airlines has organized a special flight and two cargo flights in response to the earthquake in Venezuela to transport urgently needed relief supplies and emergency teams. These measures are part of the „Avión Solidario“ program, which aims to provide humanitarian assistance in crisis situations.
The special passenger flight departs on June 27 at 08:00 from Bogotá to Caracas and carries more than 170 people, including firefighters, rescue workers, medical personnel, and emergency management professionals from various countries – Colombia, Chile, Brazil, Ecuador, and Peru. Representatives from Colombian foundations that assist affected communities were also on board.
Additionally, LATAM has coordinated two cargo flights that took place between Saturday evening and Tuesday. These flights are expected to transport approximately 100 tons of humanitarian aid from international organizations to Venezuela. The cargo includes equipment for setting up a field hospital, water and waste management systems, supportive tools, generators, and critical clinical materials such as hospital beds, triage technology, and personal protective equipment. These goods are essential for supporting emergency measures on the ground.
The „Avión Solidario“ program leverages LATAM’s logistical capacity and connections to assist organizations and institutions in South America in managing emergencies and natural disasters.
Overall, LATAM has established over 50 partnerships with social organizations, foundations, and government agencies in Chile, Peru, Brazil, Colombia, and Ecuador through the „Avión Solidario“ program since its inception 15 years ago. Since 2021, the program has mobilized more than 23,000 passengers and over 9,000 tons of cargo, making a significant impact on the affected communities.
