The membership aims to support the adoption of interoperable digital standards within the global air freight industry.
With the increasing digital transformation in global freight transport, interoperability among various stakeholders such as carriers, forwarders, and technology providers is becoming increasingly important. The IATA Charter outlines five key priorities intended to advance the industry:
Five core priorities of the Charter
The first priority is to drive industry-wide interoperability and global data standards. Additionally, strengthening digital resilience and readiness for cybersecurity is emphasized. Another focus is on accelerating sustainable and paperless freight operations. Furthermore, digital excellence is to be promoted through innovation and automation. Finally, the ethical and responsible adoption of new technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, is also highlighted.
Pablo Pinillos, CEO and Interim CFO of Freightos, commented on the initiative:
“Real-time data connections and interoperable data exchange are becoming increasingly important in global freight operations. As a leading, vendor-neutral digital freight network, we believe that collaboration within the industry and common standards are essential to reduce integration challenges and enable more efficient connectivity.”
Jonathan Parkinson, Head of Cargo Digitalization at IATA, welcomed Freightos as a new member of the Charter and emphasized the need for collaboration along the air freight supply chain. The participation of leading digital platforms is crucial to advancing data exchange, interoperability, and the adoption of industry standards such as ONE Record.
Freightos provides the necessary digital infrastructure to facilitate the transition to universal data standards. The platform digitizes the international freight industry and supports companies with a variety of software solutions that include pricing, quoting, booking, shipment tracking, and payment processing.
Membership in the IATA Digitalization Leadership Charter represents another step for Freightos to actively shape the digital transformation in the air freight sector.
