Freightos joins IATA Digitalization Charter
Jun 18, 2026 at 7:48 AMSolitAir, a young cargo airline from Dubai (UAE), has appointed the Aviation Training Center (ATC) in Dubai as its preferred partner for hazardous materials training. This decision aims to equip SolitAir’s growing team with the latest methods and competencies in handling dangerous goods.
The collaboration between SolitAir and ATC is seen as an important step in strengthening the aviation sector in the Middle Eastern country. It supports the country’s position as a global hub for safe and efficient air cargo operations. The transport of hazardous materials is subject to strict regulations set by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), which are updated annually to address new risks and changing cargo profiles. The 67th edition of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, which came into effect on January 1, 2026, introduces significant changes to the requirements for shipping lithium batteries, as well as revised state variations and standardized formulations for operators.
Hamdi Osman, founder and CEO of SolitAir, emphasizes the need to continuously familiarize the company’s teams with current requirements. „The revised IATA requirements highlight the necessity for rigorous training within airline operations teams. Through this partnership, SolitAir will ensure that our teams are always up to date with evolving standards,“ Osman stated. This aims to further enhance safety and operational capabilities in handling hazardous materials.
ATC Dubai is known for its high training standards and regulatory compliance. The company holds approvals from the UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) as well as IATA. The Competency-Based Training and Assessment (CBTA) programs are designed to help aviation industry stakeholders maintain the highest safety and compliance standards.
Neeraj Arora, CEO of ATC Dubai, also commented on the partnership:
“Our collaboration with SolitAir underscores our commitment to providing top-notch training solutions that meet the evolving needs of the aviation industry. Together, we aim to strengthen safety standards and equip aviation professionals with the necessary competencies.”
SolitAir was founded in 2024 and is based at Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC). The company operates a fleet of seven Boeing 737-800 BCF freighters from a modern logistics center covering 20,440 m². Each aircraft can transport up to 20 tons and is designed to carry a variety of specialized cargo, including pharmaceuticals, perishable goods, hazardous materials, valuables, and oversized items.
