This decision was officially announced during a subsequent meeting of the board, where Hilaire Lamizana (right), the Chairman of the Board, introduced Traoré. His professional career is closely linked to the PAA, where he has been working for over a decade. Initially serving as the Head of the Energy and Navigation Aids Department, he later took on the role of Deputy Director before assuming leadership of Logistics in 2020.
In his speech, Lamizana emphasized the challenges facing the port of the largest city in Côte d’Ivoire, particularly regarding operational performance and enhancing competitiveness. He reaffirmed the board’s commitment to support management in achieving its strategic goals.
Traoré expressed his gratitude to the board for their trust and acknowledged the former General Director Hien Yacouba Sié, who was appointed Minister of Infrastructure and Road Maintenance in January and whose work has contributed to positioning the Port of Abidjan as a significant player on the West African coast. Traoré stated that he intends to continue efforts to modernize and enhance the competitiveness of the port.
The new interim General Director highlighted the importance of teamwork and synergy within the board. He urged all department heads to contribute their skills, commitment, and sense of responsibility to consolidate past successes and further enhance the prominence of the Port of Abidjan. Traoré emphasized that the overarching interest of the institution and the sustainability of its development should be at the center of all actions.
