Duisburg Port introduces digital registration system
May 11, 2026 at 8:46 AMThe Allianz Future Tires (AZuR) has further expanded its network for tire circular economy. The aim is to connect start-ups with established industry partners, as the company reports. These collaborations are intended to bring fresh impulses, technologies, and business models to the industry. At the same time, start-ups are expected to benefit from interdisciplinary exchange and the expertise of over 80 European network partners. Among the new partnerships is Siemens AG (Digital Industries).
Innovative approaches to tire recycling
An example of the innovative strength of start-ups in the tire circular economy is the company Bear-Machines, according to the association. This young company has developed a semi-automatic retreading machine called „BEAR-CUT,“ which aims to extend the lifespan of commercial vehicle tires. This technology is expected to save resources and reduce CO₂ emissions.
Another partner of AZuR is the Dutch start-up AKIN, which specializes in the material recycling of used tires. With its platform „Rubber BioRefine,“ AKIN utilizes biotechnological processes to recycle rubber. The goal is to return hard-to-recycle components of used tires into raw materials that match the quality of primary raw materials. The start-up Solid Plant develops bio-based fillers for the tire and plastics industry, aiming to reduce the use of petrochemical raw materials.
