May 5, 2026 at 10:55 AMDaimler Truck has announced the acquisition of eStar Truck & Van Ltd. to advance its strategic expansion in the Own Retail sector in Europe. With this acquisition, the company enters one of the five largest and most dynamic markets for trucks and vans in Europe. The goal is to expand its own sales and service network by more than 60 percent by 2030.
The acquisition includes six locations in the Greater Manchester and Liverpool regions, including Knowsley Truck, Knowsley Van, Stoke-on-Trent, Deeside, Trafford Park, and Skelmersdale. These locations are strategically positioned and offer excellent access to key transport routes, including the M6, M56, M58, M60, and M62 motorways, as well as Manchester Airport.
Strategic Importance of the Acquisition
Stina Fagerman, President of Mercedes-Benz Trucks Region Europe, emphasizes the complexity of the truck business and the importance of close customer relationships. The new locations enable Daimler Truck to continuously develop its products and services. “In the UK, where we previously had no own sales and service locations, the acquisition of six locations has put us in an excellent position,” explains Fagerman. This investment aims to increase the service share and strengthen the resilience of Mercedes-Benz Trucks.
The acquisition, which will take effect on May 1, 2026, represents Daimler Truck’s first step into the British market. Volker Hüntrup, Head of Mercedes-Benz Trucks Own Retail in Europe, highlights that the new locations are situated in a strategically important region and enhance the company’s ability to support customers with reliable service.
Comprehensive Services and Expertise
With the acquisition, Daimler Truck will be able to offer a comprehensive range of services. This includes the sale of new and used Mercedes-Benz trucks and vans, as well as FUSO trucks, the provision of service and original parts, and a vehicle preparation center. Over 300 employees from eStar Truck & Van Ltd. will be integrated into Daimler Truck’s organization, bringing extensive technical expertise and long-standing customer relationships.
The workshops are already prepared for the growing demand for electrically powered trucks and vans, underscoring Daimler Truck’s commitment to a future-oriented retail business. Sid Sadique OBE, Chairman of eStar Truck and Van Ltd., speaks positively about the acquisition and emphasizes that employees can expect a strong and stable future.
Daimler Truck is now active in Europe with 45 company-owned retail locations and continues to pursue the ambition of expanding its network. In addition to Germany and the United Kingdom, the company operates in six other markets, including Portugal, France, Italy, Poland, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia, employing more than 3,000 people in total.
