ECS Group partners with My Freighter
Apr 27, 2026 at 8:06 AMDHL Supply Chain, a contract logistics provider with global operations, has completed the acquisition of three companies from the Vital Group in South Africa. The transaction was approved by South Africa’s Competition Tribunal without conditions. In the future, Vital Distribution Solutions, Staffing Logistics, and Vital Fleet will operate as subsidiaries of DHL and continue business with their existing structures.
With this acquisition DHL has expanded its capacities in transport, distribution, fleet management and staffing in the country. Additionally, the company has strengthened its national network and improving market coverage in a fragmented retail environment. The goal is to provide customers with broader access to sales channels and more stable product availability.
According to DHL, the integration is also expected to bring efficiency gains, such as higher utilisation ratios and optimised route planning. This will simultaneously support the company’s decarbonisation strategy. The investment is part of DHL Supply Chain’s long-term commitment in sub-Saharan Africa, where it is planning to invest approximately EUR 300 million by 2030.
