Feb 2, 2026 at 1:19 PMFederal Express Corporation announced on January 27, 2025, the introduction of five new weekly flights between the Asia-Pacific region and the United States via Turkey. These flights aim to strengthen the company’s global air freight connectivity and provide businesses in Turkey with expanded opportunities for imports from Asia as well as exports to Europe and the United States. The new connections utilize the recently opened FedEx Global Air Transit facility at Istanbul Airport (IST), ensuring seamless integration into the company’s worldwide network.
Expanded Trade Capacities
The new flights will be operated using Boeing 777 freighters, increasing the daily capacity for packages and freight within the FedEx network. Three of the flights will depart from the FedEx hub at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, while two flights will take off from the FedEx location at Shanghai Pudong Airport. This capacity expansion allows businesses in Turkey to respond more flexibly and reliably to the demands of international trade.
A significant advantage for importers in Turkey is the faster customs clearance. The B777 flights from China enable next-day arrival, allowing Turkish importers to clear their goods on the day of arrival. FedEx will provide the necessary customs documentation one day earlier, expediting the processing of goods.
Competitiveness in Global Trade
These innovations are particularly important in today’s competitive business environment, where every hour counts to maintain smooth production processes. By combining enhanced connectivity with faster customs clearance processes, FedEx supports Turkish companies in securing their competitiveness in global supply chains.
Eser Sezek, Vice President of Ground Operations at FedEx Express Turkey, commented on the new flights: „With the expanded connectivity and continuous network optimization, FedEx creates significant value for customers in Turkey who need more options. These flights represent an important step in strengthening our international air freight network and enhance our ability to support key trade routes with greater capacity and reliability.“
