Growth of the Logistics Industry by 2031
Jan 23, 2026 at 11:29 AMRoland Weil has assumed his new position as Vice President Business Development EFFH Germany at Worldwide Flight Services (WFS). In this role, he will support the expansion of the company’s Frankfurt location, which plays a leading role in air cargo handling. Previously, Weil served as Vice President Sales Cargo at Frankfurt Airport and was a founding member as well as the first managing director of the Air Cargo Community Frankfurt. He will now leverage his extensive experience to contribute to the company’s development.
Expansion at the Frankfurt Location
WFS plans to significantly expand its activities at the most important German air freight hub, particularly in the areas of forwarding and e-commerce. To achieve these goals, the company will occupy a large logistics center in Cargo City South, previously used by DHL. This measure aims to strengthen WFS’s competitiveness in the air freight sector.
Roland Weil brings 40 years of experience in the aviation industry. He began his career in the sales department of Air Canada in Frankfurt am Main. He then spent many years at Delta Air Lines, where he held various sales positions, most recently as Regional Director Sales Southern Europe and Southeast Asia. In March 2005, he transitioned to Fraport as Vice President Sales, where he acted as the central contact for the route and network planners of the airlines and ensured the development of scheduled flights to and from Frankfurt. In February 2013, he took on the newly created position of Vice President Sales Cargo at Fraport and played a key role in expanding the air freight business at Frankfurt Airport.
Claus Wagner, managing director of FCS, the Frankfurt subsidiary of WFS, expressed positive sentiments about the new addition: “We are pleased to welcome Roland Weil to the WFS family. In his new role, he will support the development of new products and the expansion of our air freight handling activities. We look forward to collaborating with him as we further develop our activities in Frankfurt.”
Worldwide Flight Services was founded in 1984 and is the world’s largest air freight logistics service provider as a member of the SATS Group.
