Jan 16, 2026 at 10:19 AMAir Charter Service recently chartered a Boeing B747 to transport over a hundred animals from Thailand to a new sanctuary. This facility, located on a 3,000-hectare site on the east coast of India, is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and protection of wildlife.
Brendan Toomey, CEO of ACS Singapore (photo), explains that the request came from a client who wanted to transport a variety of animals from Bangkok to Ahmedabad. The new sanctuary already houses thousands of similar animals, many of which were rescued from circuses, zoos, or the illegal trade.
Various species were planned for transport, including zebras, sloths, wallabies, falcons, pacas, and raccoons. Due to the total weight of 50 tons, which included the animals, their enclosures, food, and accompanying veterinarians, the use of a B747 was the appropriate choice. Toomey emphasizes that the team worked closely with the Thai Civil Aviation Authority and the client to obtain all necessary export documents in a timely manner, as the assignment had to be completed in less than two weeks.
An employee from the Singapore office coordinated the operations at the airport, including a special area and the necessary equipment to load the animals safely and efficiently. He accompanied the flight to assist with the unloading process in India before the animals continued their journey to their new home.
