Jan 8, 2026 at 8:23 AMCargoBeamer has appointed Julian Hagenschulte as the new Chief Digital Officer (CDO). With this new appointment at the executive level, the company emphasizes the strategic importance of digital transformation for future growth and scalability. In his new role, Hagenschulte will be responsible for the company-wide digital strategy of CargoBeamer. His mandate includes the systematic development of an integrated, data-driven logistics platform that connects physical transport and terminal infrastructure with digital services and new data-driven business models.
Hagenschulte brings extensive experience from his previous role at PwC, where he most recently led the digital and AI consulting for clients in the construction, real estate, and infrastructure sectors. In this role, he was responsible for complex international digital transformation programs implemented as part of large investment projects in Europe, the Middle East, and Central Asia. Previously, he led the digital consulting at CBRE Germany and held leadership positions at Accenture Strategy. His comprehensive experience in managing large-scale infrastructure projects will be crucial in driving digital transformation across the entire value chain of CargoBeamer, including terminal operations, transport processes, maintenance, asset management, and digital customer services.
Development of a Digital Platform Ecosystem
As Chief Digital Officer, Hagenschulte will lead the areas of Digital Solutions, Information Technology, and Artificial Intelligence. A central goal of his role is to further develop the CargoBeamer platform into a modular, scalable digital ecosystem for intermodal freight transport. This is based on three strategic pillars: First, the expansion of logistics products and services through digital offerings, including data-driven value-added services such as predictive maintenance and dynamic capacity management; second, the implementation and operation of a scalable digital platform infrastructure; and third, the digital transformation of core operations (terminals, transport, maintenance) using cloud technologies, digital twins, and artificial intelligence.
Furthermore, Hagenschulte will support the board in the international expansion of CargoBeamer and ensure the scalability of digital solutions in new markets. With his appointment as the fifth member of the board, it will now consist of Nicolas Albrecht (CEO), Dr. Markus E. Fischer (CFO), Boris Timm (CTO), Dr.-Ing. habil. Hans-Jürgen Weidemann (CTO), and Julian Hagenschulte (CDO).
Nicolas Albrecht, CEO of CargoBeamer, commented on the appointment: “With Julian, we gain an experienced expert in digital transformation and intelligent infrastructure in our management. He joins CargoBeamer at a critical moment, as the development of a top-tier digital ecosystem is a critical success factor for scaling our business. The establishment of a dedicated board level for digital topics reflects our strong commitment to this strategic priority.”
Julian Hagenschulte emphasized: “I am very excited to join CargoBeamer and actively shape the company’s digital vision. Together with a dedicated and experienced team, we will further develop the technological foundation of CargoBeamer – with the goal of promoting efficiency, intelligent infrastructure, and long-term competitiveness. I am convinced that we can evolve CargoBeamer’s international network of terminals, rail connections, and wagons into a fully integrated, modern digital platform ecosystem, and I look forward to getting started.”
