Sep 10, 2021 at 6:14 PMLIP Invest, a leading investment manager for logistics real estate in Germany, has received the Gold Plaque from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) for the property in Mühldorf. The site features a nesting place for kestrels and two insect hotels. A photovoltaic system has been installed on the roof.
(Munich/Mühldorf) In the presence of Bodo Hollung, Managing Director and Partner of LIP Invest, Dr. Franz Hauk, Managing Director of the responsible project company GreenRock, and the project manager, Jens Edelmann, the Gold Plaque was affixed to the facade. It now officially confirms that a high quality regarding the building’s ecological balance and biodiversity has been achieved through sustainable construction methods. Additionally, LIP Invest provides a nesting place for kestrels and two insect hotels at the site. The insect hotels have been set up on-site in a wind-protected manner; the nesting place will be mounted at a lofty height on the facade of the logistics property.
“As part of our ESG strategy for our funds, we have set several environmental aspects as goals. Increasing the certification rate of portfolio assets and establishing additional nesting places and insect hotels to promote local flora and fauna are integral components,” explains Natalie Weber, Head of Logistics & Research at LIP Invest. The DGNB certification system is widely used in Germany. The plaques are awarded in Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze depending on the fulfillment of up to 40 criteria for both new buildings and existing properties.

Photovoltaic System Supplies 400 Households with Electricity
The new building in Mühldorf was completed in autumn 2020. A comprehensive photovoltaic system was installed on the roof areas. It contributed to the logistics property already having negative CO2 emission values at the time of commissioning. In a few weeks, the second part of the photovoltaic modules will also be connected to the grid. In total, the system will then have a peak output of 1250 kilowatts. This will fully cover the electricity needs of the tenant while also supplying the public power grid. “The installed photovoltaic system supplies around 400 households with electricity and also feeds the charging stations for electric cars,” explains Dr. Franz Hauk, Managing Director at GreenRock.
