Nov 11, 2020 at 7:44 AMAt Sievert Logistik SE, the Christmas business is already partially over: The logistics specialist has been commissioned by the trading house Huber-Kölle from Viernheim to assemble part of this year’s Advent calendars by the end of October.
(Stockstadt) – The large order was processed at the Sievert location in Stockstadt, where the service provider has set up a new assembly line specifically for this purpose. Among other things, an existing logistics hall has been expanded by a 1,500 square meter mezzanine. Additionally, the waste disposal has been restructured.
“The expansion of the assembly is one of the strategic goals for our Stockstadt location for some time. Therefore, we are very pleased that the trading house Huber-Kölle has entrusted us with this large order,” says Markus Heßler, Regional Manager South of Sievert Logistik SE.
Climate-neutral and environmentally friendly Advent calendars
The order included the filling of Advent calendars that Huber-Kölle produces for well-known manufacturers. However, these are not the classic wall calendars with a piece of chocolate behind each door, but climate-neutral and environmentally friendly variants made of cardboard in various designs. They differ, for example, in size and filling. “The calendars sometimes have several inlays, allowing the contents to be removed from up to four sides,” explains Heßler. The boxes, which sometimes had to be folded together beforehand, were filled with contents from the food, beverage, and non-food sectors.
New assembly line for processing by the end of October
In order to process the order on time by the end of October, Sievert has established a new assembly line in Stockstadt. This is located on a 1,500 square meter mezzanine that has been integrated into an existing logistics hall. “Apart from that, we have restructured and improved the waste disposal,” says Heßler. To process the order, Sievert deployed a team of 18 to 25 employees. “In this case, we were dealing with timed production periods, depending on the delivery dates set by Huber-Kölle,” explains Heßler. Therefore, the work was carried out in close coordination with the client.
The logistics specialist’s goal is to expand the assembly business towards year-round utilization. “With 10,000 pallet spaces in the high-bay warehouse and 10,000 square meters of covered storage space, our location in Stockstadt offers optimal conditions for this,” says Heßler.
