Asian rush for German logistics properties
Jul 15, 2026 at 10:00 AMAmerican Airlines Cargo has established a dedicated pharmaceutical corridor that connects key European life sciences centers in Amsterdam and Brussels with significant U.S. destinations via London Heathrow. This initiative aims to meet the growing demands of pharmaceutical and healthcare supply chains and offers a fully integrated, temperature-controlled logistics solution for both air and ground transportation.
Temperature-controlled logistics for pharmaceuticals
The new corridor meets the standards of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) for CEIV Pharma and Good Distribution Practice (GDP). American Airlines leverages its extensive daily transatlantic flight network from London to major U.S. pharmaceutical hubs. The solution integrates validated temperature-controlled transport services, offered in collaboration with FlyUs Aviation Group, with American Airlines‘ ExpediteTC℠ offering to ensure seamless, end-to-end cold chain protection.
Since May 1, 2026, temperature-controlled transport has been operated daily as a GDP-certified service. It connects Amsterdam and Brussels directly with London Heathrow, one of the largest international hubs of American Airlines Cargo. The service is specifically designed for pharmaceutical and healthcare shipments and supports defined temperature ranges of 2 °C to 8 °C as well as 15 °C to 25 °C in both directions to ensure product integrity throughout the ground portion of the journey.
Standardized processes for reliable deliveries
The corridor combines standardized processes for ground handling, transfer, and air transport to ensure consistent temperature control and compliance throughout the journey. By connecting leading European pharmaceutical hubs with American Airlines‘ global network, a reliable and scalable solution for transporting temperature-sensitive healthcare deliveries is created.
Eric Mathieu, Managing Director of Customer Experience at American Airlines Cargo, stated:
“The introduction of this pharmaceutical corridor represents a strategic step in strengthening our pharmaceutical and healthcare network in Europe and the U.S. Based on standardized, end-to-end processes and supported by validated ground solutions as well as our global air network, this initiative enables a consistent, reliable, and fully compliant experience for customers transporting temperature-sensitive shipments.”
