Jul 7, 2026 at 1:00 PMCY Shipping and BigLift Shipping recently launched the first ship of the new BC class, the „CY Frontier,“ in Amsterdam. According to a statement from BigLift Shipping, this marks a step in the expansion of the heavy transport fleet of both companies and reflects their commitment to respond to the growing global demand for large offshore, energy, and industrial transport projects.
The naming ceremony was conducted by Jenny Jung. Representatives from CY Shipping, BigLift Shipping, and Jing Jiang Nanyang Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. attended the event, which, according to company information, highlights the close collaboration between the shipowner, the shipyard, and the project team.
Fleet expansion
The „CY Frontier“ is the first of a total of four ships in the BC class, which, according to BigLift Shipping, has been developed to meet market demands: These ships are designed to increasingly transport large modules for offshore, energy, and industrial applications. The construction of the remaining three ships is proceeding as planned, and the second ship in the series, the „BigLift Pioneer,“ is expected to be delivered later this year.
With a length of 180 m and a width of 43 m, the BC class offers a clear deck area of 43 by 140 m. This corresponds to an area of 6,020 m². The cargo can be loaded both from the stern and from the side using RoRo and skidding methods.
