Jul 6, 2026 at 1:21 PMSmartKargo has announced the launch of the mobile app for Akasa Air Cargo, enabling freight agents and shippers to manage their shipments anytime and anywhere. The app was developed on the SmartKargo platform of the U.S. logistics IT service provider and integrates essential features such as flight search, bookings, real-time shipment tracking, milestone information, and account management into a user-friendly interface. The application is aimed at modern freight agents and is designed to optimize processes at every touchpoint to facilitate quicker decision-making and execution without the constraints of a desktop environment. The app is currently available for Android users and can be utilized by registered freight agents and approved shippers operating within Akasa Air’s growing domestic network.
The launch of the app represents another step in SmartKargo’s mission to assist airlines in modernizing their cargo operations through scalable, cloud-based technologies. Oliver Houri, Chief Revenue Officer of SmartKargo, emphasizes that mobile solutions have become a commercial necessity. „The introduction of the Akasa Air Cargo app reflects the kind of forward-looking partnership we promote at SmartKargo,“ explains Houri. The app allows Akasa Air to capture demand at the moment of intent and facilitate bookings.
Anand Srinivasan, co-founder and Chief Commercial Officer of Indian Akasa Air, highlights that the future of air freight will be shaped not only by network expansion but also by the seamless interaction of customers with this network. The app is a significant step in this development, enabling customers to book, track, and manage shipments more conveniently and transparently. Since its inception, Akasa Air has transported over 182,000 tons of cargo and has established itself as one of India’s key air freight providers in less than four years.
The provision of the SmartKargo platform strengthens the airline’s digital cargo system and supports the growing demands of the Indian logistics sector. Akasa Air is pursuing a clear growth strategy with an order of 226 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft and is focused on an environmentally friendly fleet that meets the latest standards in fuel efficiency and noise reduction.
