Rotterdam develops Food Park
Jun 12, 2026 at 12:04 PMOn June 18, 2026, the Port of Lille will open its gates to the public as part of the second edition of the Urban Trails, organized in collaboration with the Banque Alimentaire du Nord. This event offers participants the opportunity to explore the often-hidden areas of the port while contributing to a social initiative.
Insights into the Port
The port, which is usually used for logistical activities, will become a venue for runners and walkers on this day. The Urban Trail will guide participants through various infrastructures of the port that are typically not accessible to the public. This provides a unique perspective on the operations and facilities of the third-largest inland port in France.
The event is aimed at all interested individuals, regardless of age or fitness level. Whether alone, with friends, or family – everyone can participate. Registration is free; however, a donation of 3 kg of non-perishable food is requested as a condition for participation. These donations will be passed on to partner organizations of the Banque Alimentaire du Nord, which support people in precarious living situations.
Community and collaboration
The organization of the Urban Trails is carried out in close cooperation with the Banque Alimentaire du Nord, which is part of the community of port companies in Lille. This community aims to unite the resident companies at the twelve port locations to promote joint development projects and create synergies.
The event will start at 6:30 PM at the Lille River Port, and participants can choose between a distance of 4 or 8 km. Click here to register.
Ports de Lille, the operator of the port, is committed to developing logistical solutions in the region and is dedicated to the decarbonization of freight transport. With an area of 300,000 m² for warehouses, offices, and operational facilities, the port contributes to the economic dynamism and attractiveness of the Lille metropolitan area.
