Jun 8, 2026 at 9:10 AMIndia’s Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) facilitated the first sea transport of botanically enriched, ready-to-cook millet products from the southwestern state of Karnataka to New Zealand on June 3, 2026. This initiative represents a significant step towards promoting Indian agricultural and food exports.
The export includes one ton of value-added millet products and was carried out by Infini Agrotek LLP from Bengaluru. This shipment reflects the growing global demand for innovative millet products derived from traditional Indian grains. At the same time, it highlights the expanded opportunities for exporting value-added agricultural products from India.
Growing potential
The exporting company has actively participated in trade promotion events supported by APEDA, including World Food India 2025, Indus Food 2025, and Gulfood 2026. This participation enabled the company to reach international buyers, expand its customer base, and strengthen its presence in global markets. The export order from New Zealand is the result of continuous market development and business facilitation supported by APEDA’s trade promotion initiatives.
The shipment was virtually inaugurated by Abhishek Dev, the Chairman of APEDA. He congratulated the company on this success and acknowledged the efforts to develop innovative millet products and successfully enter international markets.
The export of botanically enriched millet products underscores the growing potential of Indian value-added agricultural products and is expected to benefit millet farmers by increasing demand and improving market access. Such initiatives contribute to strengthening the Indian agricultural export environment and create opportunities along the millet value chain.
Millet has established itself as an important component of India’s agricultural export portfolio, attributed to its nutritional benefits, climate adaptability, and rising consumer demand in global markets. The development and export of value-added millet products create new opportunities for farmers, food processors, and exporters, contributing to the diversification and expansion of Indian agricultural and food exports.
