Jun 3, 2026 at 9:05 AMSilk Way West Airlines has signed a new multi-year agreement with dnata, a global provider of air services, for the handling of cargo and freighters at Singapore Changi Airport. This agreement strengthens the already existing partnership between the two companies.
Under the agreement, dnata will support Silk Way West Airlines‘ twice-weekly freighter services at one of Asia’s key aviation and logistics hubs. The partnership is expected to encompass more than 100 freighter flights annually and over 15,000 tons of cargo per year, including general goods, temperature-sensitive items, as well as specialized shipments such as oil and gas products and equipment for the aviation and aerospace industries.
Important role for the global network
Singapore plays a central role in Silk Way West Airlines‘ global cargo network, connecting the Asia-Pacific region with key markets in the Middle East, Europe, and beyond. The agreement reflects the Azerbaijani airline’s focus on maintaining high operational standards, enhancing service reliability, and ensuring efficient cargo flows throughout the network.
Onno Pietersma, Chief Operating Officer of Silk Way West Airlines, emphasized:
“Singapore is an important access point in our global cargo network, and reliable ground and cargo handling is crucial for maintaining efficient and seamless freighter operations. Our continued collaboration with dnata supports our focus on operational excellence and providing reliable cargo solutions for our customers worldwide.”
Tom Alwyn-Jones, Managing Director of dnata’s airport operations in Singapore, stated:
“This agreement reflects the strength of our operations in Singapore and our ability to support freighter operators in a fast-paced and highly coordinated hub. Our team takes pride in working closely with partners in the Changi Airport community.”
Long-term partnership and expansion
The agreement builds on the long-standing relationship between Silk Way Group and dnata, which currently encompasses key international markets such as Amsterdam, Dubai, and several destinations in Iraq. dnata is already supporting the airline’s operations on a large scale, handling over 1,000 flights annually as well as significant cargo volumes. Recently, the partnership was expanded through a joint venture aimed at developing an aviation service center at the newly built cargo airport in the Alat Free Trade Zone in Azerbaijan – more about this project in ITJ 08/2026 from June 12, 2026.
In Singapore, dnata offers a comprehensive range of aviation services at Changi Airport, supporting over 30 airlines while handling approximately 250,000 tons of cargo annually. Globally, dnata provides ground handling and cargo services at more than 90 airports in 16 countries. In the financial year 2025–2026, the teams handled over 888,000 aircraft movements and transported 3.2 million tons of cargo.
