IG Air Cargo Geneva: Board in limbo
May 8, 2026 at 2:27 PMA new paint job on an Emirates Airbus A380 showcases the flag of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and aims to symbolize national pride. The A6-EVG, the largest passenger aircraft in the world, now features a striking 3D design that spans both sides of the plane. This initiative is part of the campaign „This Flag Will Always Fly,“ launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE. The campaign’s goal is to promote the flag as a unifying symbol of society and to strengthen cohesion within the nation.
At a time when the war in the Middle East, particularly the Iranian attacks, also affects Dubai, the symbolism of this paint job is especially significant. The flag represents not only national unity but also resilience in challenging times.
Symbol of unity and strength
The flag is described as a kind of moving canvas of national pride and has already flown to destinations such as New York and Brisbane. In the future, it is also set to be used on additional A380 routes. The A380 also offers underfloor cargo capacities of about 17 tons and a volume of 88 cubic meters, which are of great importance for international trade. These capacities enable Emirates to transport not only passengers but also essential goods quickly and efficiently, which is invaluable in the current geopolitical situation.
The UAE flag is already visible on the tail fins of the Emirates fleet and is presented daily across various continents and cultures. Additionally, plans are underway to apply the flag design to a Boeing 777 from Emirates, the second-largest passenger aircraft in the airline’s fleet after the A380.
