May 8, 2026 at 9:01 AMThe Annual General Meeting of Deutsche Post AG has approved the name change to DHL AG, which is expected to take effect on September 1, 2026. This decision, which was accepted with nearly 100% approval from shareholders, marks a significant step in the restructuring of the company under the 2030 strategy aimed at sustainable growth, and will cost approximately EUR 37 million, according to CEO Tobias Meyer.
„In recent decades, our company has evolved from the former Deutsche Bundespost into a globally leading logistics group. It is overdue to adapt the historically grown corporate structure,“ said Meyer. In the future, the name Deutsche Post AG will only be used for the newly established subsidiary responsible for the German business, particularly the transport of letters and parcels.
With this step, the publicly listed Deutsche Post AG, which was once established as the successor to the Bundespost, will see its significance reduced. Only about one-fifth of the business will come from traditional postal services, while the majority will focus on global areas such as express and freight services. The new structure aims to create more clarity and align the legal framework with the current business situation.
