Apr 9, 2026 at 9:30 AMThe digitization in the logistics industry is progressing more slowly than expected. This is shown by the first survey of the „Cargoclix Digitalization Monitor,“ conducted in February among 55 customers of the company. According to the survey, 45.5 percent of logistics companies still predominantly work with paper-based processes. Only about 25 percent of respondents rely on AI-based tools or forecasting solutions, even though automation and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) are considered strategic priorities, as the company reports.
Obstacles due to analog work practices
In the survey, around 45.5 percent of companies indicate that paperless processes prevail in less than 40 percent of cases. Additionally, nearly 35 percent of respondents report daily media breaks caused by the use of Excel spreadsheets, emails, or phone calls. Another result of the survey shows that the integration of core systems such as ERP, warehouse management, or time slot management is rated as low or medium by three-quarters of the companies.
„Many companies are stuck in a technological deadlock: Complex legacy systems block modern cloud solutions, and a lack of internal resources and staff shortages are just a few examples that hinder transformation,“ says Professor Victor Meier, advisory partner at Cargoclix.
