This investment includes three Ship-to-Shore cranes (STS) and six rubber-tired gantry cranes (RTG) supplied by Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Co. Ltd (ZPMC). The cranes are part of the infrastructure developments necessary for the opening of a new commercial seaport on the Red Sea in southern Egypt, as the company states.
Strategic importance of the terminal
According to the company, the Noatum Ports – Safaga Terminal will serve as the first internationally operated port terminal in Upper Egypt. It is located on the Egyptian coast of the Red Sea and is intended to act as a gateway for trade between Egypt, the Middle East, Africa, and global shipping routes. The terminal is designed to handle a variety of goods, including containers, bulk cargo, dry and liquid bulk, as well as Ro-Ro freight.
