Chinese partners for emission-free inland shipping
Apr 2, 2026 at 9:52 AMAir freight connections between China and Poland are being expanded through new cargo flights from Urumqi to Warsaw. Beijing Capital Airlines has introduced regular cargo flights for JD Airlines with three weekly frequencies. The new connection aims to enhance the direct air freight link between China and Central Europe, offering shorter transit times and additional capacity.
The flights are operated using Airbus A330 freighters models. The focus of the routes is currently on imports to Poland, strengthening capacity on the trade route between China and Central Europe. Urumqi, located in western China, provides a shorter connection to Europe compared to traditional eastern access points. This supports faster transit times for time-sensitive shipments, as cargo from across China can be consolidated, allowing for broader network access.
Expansion of Infrastructure in Warsaw
In parallel with the introduction of the new cargo flights, ground infrastructure at Warsaw Airport is being expanded. Welcome Airport Services is increasing terminal capacity to accommodate the growing freight volumes and improve throughput efficiency. These measures are part of efforts to enhance air freight capacities in Central Europe and optimize logistics operations.
The new cargo connections between Urumqi and Warsaw thus represent an important step in strengthening trade relations between China and Poland and contribute to improving logistical connectivity in the region.
