Mar 26, 2026 at 2:28 PMJetstream Aviation Capital has received approval from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for the Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) from Täby Air Maintenance (TAM) for the conversion of the Saab 2000 to a freighter version. This approval represents an important step in the development of Jetstream’s regional freight investment program. Previously, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) had already given its approval, highlighting Jetstream’s strategic direction and its role in introducing modern regional freight solutions. As the launch customer, Jetstream played a central role in the program’s development from the concept phase to certification, ensuring that the highest standards regarding performance, reliability, and long-term value are met.
Expansion of the Portfolio with the Saab 2000 Cargo
The Saab 2000 Cargo represents a significant addition to Jetstream’s portfolio, offering a modern, high-performance turboprop freighter tailored to the evolving demands of regional logistics. The aircraft optimally combines speed, efficiency, and payload capacity, making it particularly suitable for express freight, e-commerce distribution, and other time-sensitive operations. Compared to the Saab 340 Cargo, it offers greater capacity, sector speeds up to 30% faster, and an extended range, enabling operators to expand their networks and maximize utilization.
Jetstream has already overseen the conversion of the first aircraft at TAM’s facility in Örebro and is preparing for the first deliveries in the near future. With the now obtained FAA approval, Jetstream is well-positioned to accelerate placements in North America, where there is strong demand from operators looking to modernize their fleets with a proven and efficient platform. The Saab 2000 Cargo program reflects Jetstream’s commitment to innovation and operational excellence, supporting its global customer base with flexible, performance-oriented fleet options.
TAM, based in Sweden, is a maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) company as well as an aviation engineering firm specializing in aircraft maintenance, spare parts, modifications, and conversions. With extensive experience working with Saab regional aircraft, TAM is recognized worldwide for its high-quality freighter conversion programs, technical expertise, and commitment to innovative engineering solutions for commercial and freight operators.
Jetstream Aviation Capital is a global leader in the leasing of regional aircraft. Based in Fort Lauderdale, Jetstream is the world’s largest owner of Saab 340 and Saab 200 aircraft, as well as their spare parts and engines.
