Mar 26, 2026 at 8:54 AMDHL Express France has appointed Gert Asselman as the new Director of Operations. The decision took effect on March 23, 2026. Asselman, who previously served as Chief Financial Officer since 2018, will remain a member of the leadership team and report directly to Philippe Prétat, the CEO of DHL Express France.
With over 20 years of experience in the DHL Group, Asselman brings extensive knowledge in finance and operations. In his new role, he will contribute his strategic vision and efficiency to the further development of DHL Express France’s operations.
Experience and Goals
Gert Asselman commented on his appointment: “I am very honored to take over the leadership of the operations of DHL Express France. My career, which has focused on financial, operational, and transformative challenges, has provided me with a comprehensive view of our business and its performance factors. Therefore, I want to continue the work that has been started in recent years to support the strategic and profitable growth of the company across the country.”

Due to his collaboration with the operations teams in France over the past eight years, his solid experience, and his deep understanding of our challenges and opportunities, he is ideally positioned to lead the operations into a new phase of development.”
Professional Background
Gert Asselman holds a degree in Accounting and Tax Sciences and began his career in finance at Toyota Europe, where he worked for seven years before joining DHL in 2002. In the DHL Express division, he initially served as Regional Controller for Hubs & Gateways in Europe and played a key role in selecting Leipzig as the new European and intercontinental hub.
His career has taken him through various positions, including Senior Controller and Chief Financial Officer of the DHL Worldwide Network. After the relocation of the European headquarters to Bonn in 2010, he took on the role of Financial Controller for DHL Express Global. In 2014, he became Chief Financial Officer of DHL Express in the Netherlands, where he was heavily involved in the development of the international business. Finally, he became Chief Financial Officer of DHL Express France in 2018, succeeding Philippe Prétat, who was promoted to CEO of this business unit.
