Rhenus opens office in Tbilisi
Mar 20, 2026 at 9:28 AMNegotiations between Amazon and the United States Postal Service (USPS) have ended without results after more than a year. This puts a decades-long partnership under pressure and creates uncertainty in the US logistics market.
The existing contract is still in effect until September 2026. Amazon lacks planning security for future shipping volumes, while the USPS faces the risk of losing important revenue. Recently, Amazon paid over USD 5 billion annually for delivery services.
Long-standing collaboration
The cooperation dates back more than 30 years and has been particularly crucial in rural areas. Expansions such as Sunday delivery have increased volumes.
Market changes
Amazon has simultaneously built its own logistics infrastructure and could further expand it. A decline in USPS volumes would significantly alter the competition in the parcel market.
The coming months are considered crucial for the further development of both partners.
