TX Logistik: Longest corridor is operational
Mar 19, 2026 at 11:53 AMLogistec has put two new port cranes into operation at the Care Terminal in the Port of Houston. These cranes have a lifting capacity of 120 tons each and are part of a comprehensive investment strategy by the company aimed at strengthening capacities along the Gulf Coast. This measure further solidifies the terminal’s role as an important hub in Logistec’s North American network.
The Care Terminal is operated by Gulf Stream Marine (GSM), which is part of the Logistec network. It offers a variety of handling and terminal services for different types of cargo. The new cranes expand the terminal’s capabilities for handling heavy, project, and specialized cargo, thereby supporting global supply chains and access to the Gulf Coast.
Strategic Investments in Infrastructure
CEO Sean Pierce emphasizes the importance of the Gulf Coast for North American supply chains and highlights that this region plays a significant role in energy, manufacturing, and project cargo activities. „Our partnership with the Port of Houston represents a long-term strategic commitment to infrastructure, connectivity, and global competitiveness.“ Through investments in modern infrastructure and operational capacities, it is ensured that cargo will be transported safely, reliably, and efficiently through this region in the coming years.
Charlie Jenkins, CEO of the Port of Houston, points out that the general cargo and multipurpose facilities of the terminal have been part of the port’s history for over a century. He highlights that these facilities form the largest handling area for breakbulk and project cargo in North America and provide direct access to the Houston Ship Channel, the country’s most important waterway. Jenkins adds that Logistec’s investments in the Care Terminal will help prepare the region well for the demand for specialized, breakbulk, and project cargo both now and in the future.
The commissioning of the cranes marks the first phase of a broader, multi-stage investment program at the Care Terminal. Planned improvements include the expansion of berths, rail and storage capacities, as well as enhanced accessibility. These investments aim to increase throughput performance, efficiency, and safety, enabling the terminal to support higher volumes and more complex industrial cargo as activities along the Gulf Coast continue to grow.
In addition to the terminal investments, „Logistec Direct“ will be introduced to connect operations at the Care Terminal with trucking, rail, storage, and distribution services within the Logistec network. By reducing handoffs and improving visibility, the solution aims to accelerate cargo flow and provide a more efficient, seamless logistics experience for customers transporting complex cargo across regional and international markets.
