Mar 17, 2026 at 9:53 AMBapaume Truck House in France has been awarded „European Truck Parking of the Year 2026.“ Truck Etape Béziers, also in France, unanimously received the „Green Truck Parking Management Award 2026“ as well as the newly introduced „ESPORG Home Away from Home Award.“ These awards were presented during the Conference Award Ceremony by ESPORG – The European Safe & Secure Parking Organisation, on March 4, 2026.
Jury and Applications
The international jury of the Excellence in Truck Parking Award consisted of representatives from the European Commission and leading players in road transport, including insurers, testing and certification bodies, and freight transport associations. A total of 21 applications from various EU countries were submitted, reflecting the growing interest and ambitions of operators. The jury praised the high quality of all submitted applications and noted that the service quality for professional drivers has continuously improved in recent years.
The two winners were recognized for their outstanding achievements in terms of comfort and care for drivers. The jury highlighted that both Bapaume Truck House and Truck Etape Béziers have established a culture of care for their customers and the environment.
Statements from the Winners
Thierry Roger (photo), Managing Director of Bapaume Truck House, commented on the award: „It is a great honor for me to receive the Truck Parking Award. This recognition reflects our commitment to safety, dignity, and innovation.“ He emphasized that the company’s goal is to transform a simple parking lot into a safe and welcoming destination for drivers. Roger also thanked ESPORG for the support that has enabled the unlocking of important funding sources.
Antoine Lecea, CEO of Truck Etape Béziers, stated that the awards represent recognition of years of work in the areas of environmental responsibility, driver well-being, sustainability, and safety. He emphasized his team’s commitment to continuously modernizing the facilities and creating new offerings.
Importance of the Awards
The awards aim not only to promote the quality of parking facilities but also to raise awareness of the working conditions of truck drivers. Representatives of the EU Commission emphasized that safe parking options are crucial for improving working conditions in the transport sector. Francesco Corti, a member of the cabinet of the Executive Vice-President of the EU Commission, pointed out that creating safe parking spaces is of great importance for the attractiveness of the profession.
The ESPORG initiative to promote driver well-being has been highlighted as central to improving the quality of life in the industry. Michael Nielsen, President of ESPORG, congratulated the winners and emphasized the significance of the awards in establishing new standards in customer care and innovation.
