In 2025, SCA Skog set a new record for transporting roundwood by rail. The company transported a total of 3.1 million cubic meters of wood, marking the highest volume in the history of SCA’s railway system, as the company recently announced.
Key role of the railway network
The railway network is a central component of SCA Skog’s logistics strategy. The company operates 13 wood terminals, ranging from Stockaryd in Småland to Murjek in Norrbotten. Most of these terminals are owned by SCA. According to SCA, almost the entire transport volume flows into the industry, while only a small portion is moved between the wood terminals.
Viktor Wasell from SCA Skog emphasizes that a high and stable rail volume is crucial for the company. It enables cost-efficient wood flows and contributes to reducing climate impact.
