Mar 13, 2026 at 7:59 AMThe Elbe Flugzeugwerke (EFW) have signed a contract with the Asia Pacific Aviation Leasing Group (APAL) from Hong Kong to convert an Airbus A330-300 from passenger to freighter configuration. The modification of the aircraft will take place in the second quarter of 2026 at one of the conversion sites within the EFW network. The technical planning and certification of the project will be conducted at the headquarters in Dresden.
Collaboration for Fleet Modernization
Hong Wei Zhao, CEO of APAL, spoke positively about the collaboration with EFW and emphasized the importance of the company’s expertise in converting freighter aircraft. This partnership is crucial for the modernization of APAL’s fleet and adapting to the growing demands of the Chinese freight market. Zhao stated that the company plans to invest additional resources in this market to offer its customers innovative freight solutions.
Jordi Boto, CEO of EFW, highlighted the role of the Airbus A330P2F in the medium freighter segment and emphasized APAL’s support in building their freighter fleet with this solution.
EFW, a joint venture of ST Engineering and Airbus, specializes in converting passenger aircraft to freighters and has over 20 years of experience in this field. The company employs around 2,000 staff and has more than 40 conversion customers worldwide, including major express carriers as well as freight and combination logistics companies.
