Air freight volume at Geneva Airport rises
Mar 5, 2026 at 9:35 AMIn the Romanian city of Oradea, Schmitz Cargobull has opened a new assembly plant that will begin production of semi-trailers (S.CS) and tipper trailers (S.KI) for the Central European market. The commissioning of the plant is part of a strategic initiative to strengthen the company’s presence in the dynamically growing markets of Central Europe, as it reports. The assembly of the semi-trailer began in January 2026, while the production of the tipper trailers is set to start in spring 2026.
Expansion of the production network
The new plant in Romania complements Schmitz Cargobull’s existing production network, which already includes locations in Germany, Lithuania, Spain, England, and Turkey. Andreas Schmitz (pictured), CEO of Schmitz Cargobull AG, emphasizes the importance of the new location: “With the new site, we are closing a strategic gap in our international production network and strengthening our proximity to transport companies in Central Europe.”
The company aims to provide transport companies in the region with reliable transport solutions. „This includes high-quality vehicles, short delivery times, a powerful 24/7 spare parts supply, as well as a comprehensive service offering – from financing to trailer telematics solutions to used vehicle sales,” says Schmitz.
